The Rapture: Rockabilly Condensed Version a la Marty Stuart

Most everyone probably heard all the secular news stories about that silly fellow who decided he knew when The Rapture was going to take place this year. It was amazing and rather distressing how many misinformed folks decided to chime in and give their two cents worth.

As a general rule, I believe we need to be very careful how we handle interpretations of last things-there is a reason why the book of Revelation is in the BACK of the Bible! I also know that the phrase "the rapture" is nowhere in the Bible, but the idea behind it is there. With that in mind, when I came across this delightful video of Marty Stuart's original song Its Time to Go Home this evening I thought-

THERE IT IS, in a nutshell! The Rockabilly condensed version of the Rapture, complete with scripture reference and AMAZING Fender guitar playing! Give a listen:

  2. While 'The Rapture' is a very popular teaching these days - with the world going down the drain so rapidly - it isn't in any way scriptural! The majority has always been wrong - throughout human history. There is a reason why The Scriptures define it as: "The Straight And Narrow Path" - because few find it, and even fewer remain upon it for very long... while the majority are headed to their own spiritual destruction!

Did the majority enter The Ark? Keep Yahweh's commandments in Ancient Israel? Listen to His Judges and Prophets? Or Follow Yahshua, The Messiah?

Was it a minority who call called for His death upon The Cross? Who persecuted The Early Church? Who burned Believers at The Stake? Who rode out upon The Crusades? Who arrested those who possessed Bibles? Or, elected Hitler to Reichschancellor and then murdered The Jews?

I would advise you to study those scriptures closely and see whether it is really so!

  3. The Rapture is a lie created by Spiritual Babylon - in order to prevent God's people from actively searching for The Truth! Why bother, if you're not going to be here when all the trouble starts.

Well friends: World War I was The First Seal, World War II was The Second Seal, and The Financial Collapse is The Third Seal - so when's it gonna happen? After, World War III [The Fourth Seal]? After, The One World Government [The Fifth Seal]? Just curious....

  4. Thanks for your comments everyone- Im sorry it took me so long to get them posted!!

Envirodoug- we had a great independence day, beautiful things blowing up, beautiful family:) I often think how cool it was that God created us with the ability to appreciate beauty!!

Jeshurun, thats why I love this song- it doesnt say "rapture" (I just used that word to bring the bridge between what everyone has been talking about and the truth of the Word:) AND he cites his source: "1 Thess chapter 4":

16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

    Francis,
As far as Rapture teaching is concerned I have heard "pre-tribulation" "mid-tribulation" and "Post tribulation" theories as to when its going to happen, so it doesnt always teach we wont be here when things get tough. I do think there will be the "catching away" as mentioned in the above scripture, but I dont think we need to spend time figuring out when we think it will happen. We need to live in the fullness of God and "occupy" til He comes, not worry about when we are getting out of here:)

If you look at the whole chapter in context (always a good idea eh? ;) it is in no way encouraging people to sin, etc...just offering this joyful expectation as encouragement to "walk and to please God" (v1)

    Thanks again everyone!! Blessings!!!!
